DXA
Body Composition Testing
Our
Hologic DXA Scanner is equipped with the software module that
distinguishes lean mass, bone and fat and calculates your
total body composition. For optimal health, the average body
fat should be about 16% for males and 21% for females.
DXA scanning is a very accurate method of body composition
analysis and allows for easy follow up of your progress after
your OmegaRx Zone/SuperSlow program is completed.

The DXA scanner is a research level tool to measure
Body Composition. The
DXA Scanner looks at five body regions and calculates fat and
lean mass in each area down to the gram. In
the example above it is easy to see the unwanted fat layer and
what the torso would look like without the fat. This female
has an overall body fat % of 41.2%.
The Body Mass Index is BMI is 28.5, in the Overweight
Category. We use
this information to
design your OmegaRx™ Zone Prescription.
In her prescription we set a six month goal to lose 24
pounds of fat (1lb per week) and to gain 4 pounds of muscle.
Her body fat % would then be 29%.
To get to the ideal body fat % of 21% for a female she
would need to loose about another 12 pounds of fat and this
would be the goal for the next 6 months.
We are
able to compare two scans and then create a graphical
picture of the results.
